Hello, GW students! I’m Fr. Greg, the chaplain of the Newman Center . This site is a forum for GW students to ask ANY (appropriate) questions about the Catholic faith, related or unrelated to my posts. All comments have to meet my approval before they are posted. I'm sorry for the approval process and I thank you for your patience and understanding. Thanks, and may you know the peace of Christ!
To piggy-back yesterday's post, here's another pro-life victory courtesy of mainstream media. God is good! Please click on today's title to view.

Other Pro-life news of last week, but of an ominous nature...
Bill 09-0406, "Limited Pregnancy Center Disclaimer," which singles out pro-life organizations by requiring pregnancy centers that do not provide abortions or contraception to post a sign stating the services that facility does not provide, was passed in Baltimore.
A daily fine will be imposed on such centers until sign requirements are met.

and scroll down to the November 5, 2009 post, "Bill on pro-life pregnancy centers clears hurdle."
The pro-life Democrats and Republicans took a stand for the sanctity of life by passing the Stupak-Ellsworth-Pitts-Kaptur-Dahlkemper-Lipinski-Smith Amendment on a vote of 240 to 194. This amendment prohibits the use of federal dollars to fund abortion in health care.
This victory is a step toward a future where both political parties defend Life. But one victory does not mean the battle is won.
Yesterday’s rhetoric from the Democratic leadership indicates an intention to subvert the bipartisan pro-life majority.
The battle will move quickly over to the Senate. We all have to take a deep breath and refocus our efforts toward watching the final language of the Senate bill to ensure that pro-life protections remain in the final health care bill.
The Rules Committee did not permit amendments to address concerns about conscience protection, the use of comparative effectiveness research and end of life provisions.
